Multi agency agreements ensure 911 and transport needs are met
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO, 10 April 2020: In response to the current COVID-19 Pandemic EMS Unlimited, in partnership with Classic Air Medical and Steamboat Springs Fire & Rescue, has put agreements in place to ensure local needs are met for critical care transport and 911 responses. Two independent partnerships have come together for the needs of the region.
EMS Unlimited, with Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance assets in Routt and Garfield Counties, and Classic Air Medical, with Flight Nurses and Flight Paramedics in the same area have finalized a cooperative agreement to provide Critical Care Transport (CCT) of COVID-19 patients who require hospital transfer while on a ventilator. “We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the experienced and professional team at Classic Air Medical and pleased that we can offer this valuable service to the region.” commented EMS Unlimited President and Paramedic Ebin Latrimurti. Thus far Classic Air Medical and EMS Unlimited have completed 1 safe transfer of a COVID-19 patient under the agreement.
Secondly, the City of Steamboat Springs has put a plan in place to ensure emergency services are not disrupted during the pandemic. Emergency responders are on the front lines of the situation. In the event that a number of fire department personnel require quarantine or become ill, the City of Steamboat Springs can activate ambulance services provided by EMS Unlimited. When requested and under the direction of SSFR, EMS Unlimited will provide ambulance services to the community until dismissed by the fire department. “EMS Unlimited was founded in Steamboat Springs, we have strong roots in Routt County, we will be honored to serve if needed but very much hoping our friends and peers at SSFR do not need us.” said Ebin. EMS Unlimited will dedicate an ALS ambulance to remain positioned in Routt County until the pandemic is over.
As the COVID-19 pandemic develops, partnerships between healthcare organizations will be an integral part of the response plan that ensures continuity of services and protects the health of first responders. EMS Unlimited currently has a fleet of 3 ALS ambulances and is adding a 4th in the next week. Currently EMS Unlimited provides 24/7 ALS hospital transfer services from a base in Rifle, CO with an on-call transfer team responding from Hayden, CO. EMS Unlimited is monitoring local, regional and statewide needs on a daily basis and has already put plans in place to remain operationally dynamic for added ambulance staffing while also preparing to assist with staffing healthcare facilities, Alternate Care Sites, COVID testing, building temperature checks and other needs as they arise.
